When I first joined up with Servergrid (they were called Boundgrid then) I was more or less satisfied with their service, however it's really when things go wrong that you discover the true character of an organization and how good (or bad in this case) their support is. A year ago, I started having issues with my web site hosted by them being unavailable with strange error messages intermittently. These occurances got quite frequent, and I started reporting them to their tech support. Unfortunately, they never did any real investigation and seemed much more interested in closing tickets quickly than really looking into the problem. In fact I was treated more or less as if I couldn't tell when my own web site was serving pages or not. Eventually this lack of investigation came home to roost, and they had a catastrauphic failure of one of their raid servers which put thousands of their customers' web sites offline for nearly a week. During this time their support people were extremely sullen, updates were not given on a regular basis, and they lied about the severity of the issue in what they did tell customers on their web forums. (They characterized it as a slowing of page serving, rather than the complete outage that affected many more than just myself.) Recently, I've finally moved my last domain off their service and tried to cancel my account with them. Support again did not behave well. Everything they could to prevent me from cancelling my account was done, including stonewalling, ignoring the ticket requesting the account be closed for a week, and also two individual support reps on live chat neglected to inform me on two separate contacts with them that they required a second ticket to be opened with very specific wording. Once I finally got my cancellation, they are now attempting to keep a large part of the money that is due back to me for unused time on my yearly plan. Their ads are fairly clear about the monthly rate being less if you pay yearly, yet when you want to leave, they play a bait and switch by claiming that the actual offer is 9 months full price, last three free. I'd avoid this host like the plague. I certainly regret having signed up with them and having let them use my money for free for months, when I didn't get the promised monthly discount.
